Standard Bearers

Selkirk  Colonial Society Standard Bearers and Lady Bussers (from 1911)

To be appointed Standard Bearer, the Society requires the following criteria to be satisfied.

CRITERIA FOR APPOINTMENT OF STANDARD BEARER

• The applicant should be a Souter and have lived  overseas for a minimum of two years
• That failing the applicant should be a blood descendant of a Souter and have lived overseas for a
  minimum of two years
• In the event of no applications from overseas, they should be a Souter or blood descendant of a Souter who has lived overseas,
  for a minimum of two years
• That failing they should be a Souter or blood descendant of a Souter and have lived away from the town for a minimum of two
  years

Notwithstanding the foregoing criteria, in reaching a decision we will take into account matters such as the anniversary of a relative having been a previous Standard Bearer, distance to travel, the suitability of the applicant and any relevant personal circumstances which are brought to the attention of the members. Consideration may also be given, in acceptable circumstances, to the partner of someone meeting the above criteria.

Applications for Standard Bearer should be in the hands of the Society by the date of the AGM in the year preceding the year that is being applied for. An application form is available from the Society or click this link
